Ukraine is located in Eastern Europe, bordering the Black Sea, between Poland and Russia. The population is 47 million living in an area slightly smaller than the size of Texas. With the dissolution of the Soviet Union at the end of 1991, Ukraine achieved independence. Since becoming independent, Ukraine has avoided the internal ethnic conflicts that have plagued its neighbor to the east, Russia. Ukraine boasts a 98% literacy rate, with 87% of high school graduates going on to higher education. Of those, 35% choose information technology related disciplines.
Equally important was the people's choice of a democratic and prosperous future. The so-called Orange Revolution that followed the Presidential elections in 2004-2005 brought a US- and Western world-oriented President, Victor Yushchenko, onto the political scene. Creating beneficial legislative, economic, labor and cost conditions for foreign investments, Ukraine is open for partnership and collaboration with Western countries.
Numerous construction works are in progress all across the country to meet the growing demands of modern business infrastructure. And it is no accident that the European Soccer Championship 2012 will be held in Ukraine – the country has demonstrated our ability to create and support state-of-the-art professional infrastructure.
